Excellence

Towards A Center of Excellence in Education

Capital campaign

We are blessed by and grateful for the incredible generosity of our donors who have enabled us to complete several projects towards a Center of Excellence in Science Education. There is more we want to do to better support today’s IGS student. We initiated this Towards a Center of Excellence Capital Campaign with the vision to make significant investments in the school STEM programs and facilities. IGS continues to be challenged to offer outstanding academic programs with limited funding from the State and our desire to keep the school tuition-free for students. It is only through the generosity of our benefactors that we can make our school a Center of Excellence.

An Unwavering Mission

For over 110 years, at the heart and soul of Ibadan Grammar School is a commitment to developing the fullest potential of every student in learning, faith, and leadership.

The Ibadan Grammar School Old Students Association of North America (IGSOSANA) is made up of old students of the school who make a difference every day. The unwaivering mission of IGSOSANA is to foster a lifelong relationship between our alma mater and its old students and to meet the numerous challenges facing the school today while strengthening the sustainability of projects we have embarked on.

OUR FOUR YEAR PLAN

Physical maintenance of the Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, equipment and multimedia systems.
Purchase of reagents, educational videos, books, electronic materials/tutorials and supplies for the laboratories, ICT Center and e-library as well as Insurance to protect the assets.

A day of competion, sharing and STEM career guidance. Each year the Showcase presents science, technology, engineering & math principles at a fun, interactive event. The most recent Showcase included several booths, showcasing hands-on activities to engage the students. Hits have included a catapult challenge, underwater vehicle exploration, robotics, rocket launches, bridge building, field medicine, egg drops, animals, circuitry, X-ray technology, and more. The sky is the limit!

STEM Clubs are a powerful and enjoyable way to engage young people with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
They ignite an interest in STEM subjects and provide a platform to extend young people’s learning. Most importantly, they are fun and exciting, allowing all involved to explore STEM subjects in innovative and inventive ways outside the curriculum.

We believe that teachers training is a key factor in educational excellence. Teachers are the most important assets we have in the school. The best way to move towards achieving our excellence goal is commitment to providing top quality teacher training. Our STEM-based teacher training workshops are geared towards putting the teachers at the cutting-edge of technology.

Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills.
Tutoring gives students individualized attention that they don’t get in a crowded classroom. This helps students who struggle to keep up, as well as those who aren’t challenged enough.
